My Jewellery Box – My Design Week 36

You have stuck this out with me and I really would like your opinion on the Design that I have chosen.  Let me know what you think of it.

After poring through pictures and going through the internet looking for designs for rings, I have finally picked one!  Everyone here at Harmony Jewellers is so relieved. They were getting very tired of me asking “What do you think of this one?” or “Do you think this one will suit me?”

It is everything  I am looking for, wide, antique looking, lots of detail, and very very different.  The new ring will also compliment my wedding set (which is from the late 1800’s).

The computer mock up looks funky!  But the picture of the ring at the top is awesome.  The whole process has been a real eye opener for me.  The emotional roller coaster, the decisions that need to be made, then finding something to do with the jewellery I am melting.

At the beginning of this blog, I really didn’t think that it was going to be this hard.  I thought that I would just through stuff into a pile that I did not wear and be done with it.  That is not what happened.  I found that some of the pieces I couldn’t melt, the reasons for me having that particular piece and the emotions that go with it make it impossible for me to destroy, it would be like killing a part of me. I know that sounds pretty harsh, but man, it is true!  If you are thinking of doing something along the same lines of what I have done, be prepared.  It is harder then you think. When you start thinking of the reasons behind some of the pieces of jewellery and how it came into your possession, you really start feeling the pull at the heart strings.  But in the end, I know that it will all be worth the tears and the heartache.

This is the design I have chosen!

  2. It’s quite a majestic design. A beautiful and fitting tribute to the memories of the pieces that are joining together to form this new family heirloom. If I am remembering correctly, it will complement your estate wedding band harmoniously. A lovely choice.

    • Yes, you do remember correctly. I think that is why I am so drawn to the design. It reminds me of something from the Roman times.
