Description
Jules Audemars and Edward Piguet were both in their early twenties when they founded Audemars Piguet in 1875. AP launched a line of mechanical watches with hexagonal screws that fastened a port hole-like bezel. Thus was born the Royal Oak, named in honour of the British Royal Navy’s line of ships bearing the same name. The Royal Oak is among many of the most specialized and complex watches produced by the prestigious watch family known as AP. This Royal Oak Selfwinding’s dramatic aesthetic turns functional elements into distinctive design features. It is characterized by larger-than-life proportions, high-tech materials and components engineered to ensure protection from magnetic waves, as well as by its distinctive “Mega Tapisserie” motif. The watch at hand has all the aesthetic hallmarks one associates with Royal Oak family: Port hole style bezel, hexagonal case screws, hexagonal crown and integrated bracelet to name a few. In addition, this model features a blue dial housed within its 41mm stainless steel case. This feature alone makes this is rare and highly desirable watch as the blue dials are extremely hard to come by. This Royal Oak is an impressive classic that will add value to any collection of fine time pieces. This watch comes with box and papers.
