Designed in the 1950s for the French naval air army, the Type XX returns to the Breguet collection in a civilian version fitted with a self-winding movement. The name Type XX refers to a specification issued by the French Ministry of Defense, describing a pilot’s wristwatch as part of the air men’s standard equipment. This example is is presented in Platinum and is part of a limited edition of only 100 pieces. To further the collectible appeal of this Type XX it boasts a Fly Back chronograph function. The dial is simple and legible, the way a pilot’s watch should be. The Flyback complication adds a function that, historically speaking, would be of great use to a pilot. The combination of rarity (only 100 pieces) and perfect design aesthetics create a valuable collector’s piece than can be worn daily and enjoyed before being passed along. This watch comes with original box and papers as well as correspondence from Breguet verifying the production year of 1994 and the confirmation that this is one of only one hundred pieces manufactured. This watch was serviced in January 2019 and comes with a new black Brequet strap as well as the original tan strap.
