Description
The Big Pilot Watch from 1940 has significantly influenced the appearance of the current classic pilot’s watches. In 1940, the Schaffhausen-based manufacturer started producing the Big Pilot’s Watch in accordance with military specifications for a navigation or deck watch. It was the most voluminous wristwatch ever made by IWC. With its extremely reductionist design, the dial was clearly organized and took inspiration from the cockpit instrumentation of contemporary aircrafts. The example at hand boasts an impressive 46.2mm, solid 18kt rose gold case which, thanks to the subtle dial and case design, is remarkably versatile and comfortable on the wrist. This watch is in near mint condition and comes complete with box and papers..
