Released in 2015 this watch was produced to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the storied Portugieser family.
A perfect example of how IWC designs and produces some of the most dramatically understated watches known in the world of fine watches may seem like a contradiction in terms, but once you take a moment to admire this watch I’m confident that you will agree with that definition.
Taking inspiration from the original Portuguese of the late 1930’s, the dial design with it’s railway-track chapter ring and feuille hands instantly transports the wearer back to a more elegant and refined time. The seconds indicator at the 6 o’clock position maintains the symmetrical design while adding a touch of personality to the overall appearance. Flip over the 18kt rose gold case and you will see the beautifully decorated calibre 59215 with its convenient power reserve indicator. The strap, a brown alligator leather by Santoni, is fitted with a sturdy yet sublte 18kt rose gold deployant buckle. Produced in a limited edition number of only 175 pieces this watch is a rare bird, waiting to grace the wrist of someone who appreciates the importance of exclusivity, history and unsurpassed workmanship. Box and papers are included.
