Since 1954, the Submariner has been a constant companion for adventurous men and women around the globe. The watch has seen some subtle changes over the past 64 years but the original design and spirit remains unchanged. Some of these subtle changes and developments have unknowingly resulted in the creation of some of the most collectible and desirable watches out there. Examples of this are : Red Submariner, Comex, Big Crown and Hulk to name a few. So let’s talk about the watch at hand. This Submariner 16803 was manufactured in 1985. This reference number was used only from 1984 until 1988 and is considered a transitional model. This was the first time the Submariner was offered in a gold and steel configuration. As well, for the first time a sapphire crystal was standard issue. This combination of factors will most certainly add to the collectible appeal of this watch as the years pass by. This watch does not come with box or papers.
