This IWC Aquatimer Chronograph is a rugged yet refined dive chronograph from IWC’s highly regarded GST-era Aquatimer line, blending true tool-watch capability with classic Schaffhausen finishing. Housed in a 42mm stainless steel or titanium case, it wears purposefully on the wrist with short, functional lugs and a substantial but balanced presence. Under the sapphire crystal sits a bold black dial with excellent legibility, featuring three chronograph sub-dials, day-date display, and luminous hands and markers designed for real-world underwater readability. The signature inner rotating dive bezel—operated via the auxiliary crown—adds a distinctive technical layer, keeping timing safe from accidental knocks. Powered by the IWC Calibre 79320 (based on the Valjoux 7750 architecture, heavily modified by IWC), it delivers robust reliability and straightforward serviceability, with a solid chronograph feel and dependable everyday performance. Water resistant to approximately 120 metres, the IW3719 was never just a desk diver—it was built as a legitimate instrument for timing, exploration, and daily wear, long before “luxury sports watch” became a marketing category. Today, the Aquatimer 3719 has developed a strong following among collectors for its tool-watch honesty, integrated case design, and no-nonsense functionality, representing a transitional era when IWC leaned heavily into purpose-built engineering rather than aesthetics alone.
